Best Way To Have Jasmine Tea

What is Jasmine Tea?

Do you like Jasmine tea? I do. Not sure what it is? It’s simply green tea that has been layered with jasmine flowers to impart the flavour of the jasmine into the tea.

Some people find it a bit flowery but I love it! I’m not so keen on plain green tea to be honest (even though I will drink it), but I love a good jasmine tea.

Here’s how you can enjoy it:

  1. Try to use fresh cold water or even better filtered water into a kettle.
  2. Bring it to a boil or if you have an electric Breville kettle that has the temperature settings for you, try the 90 degrees option.
  3. Use a strainer, infuser or tea ball and put in about 1 teaspoon of loose tea leaves. Then plunge it into 1 cup of water, roughly 180-250ml (6-8 ounces) of hot water for about 3-5 minutes.

What Is The Problem With Tea Bags?

Tea bags are really common and convenient to have but they often contain plastic and glues to keep them together. OMG! I didn’t want to be consuming glues or plastic with my tea, so I have switched to loose teas. Use a good quality stainless steel infuser, a tea ball or strainer.

It was in my search for loose Jasmine tea that I found this one. I found it was impossible to buy loose Jasmine tea in the supermarket.

This Jasmine tea is by Frontier Co-op and I buy it from iHerb.

They also have an organic version. I haven’t tried that one yet, but I can imagine it would only be better. I’ll probably try that one next time I order (the bag I have has lasted sooooo long! A half kilo of tea goes a long way.)

One of the reasons I love this tea is that it’s real Jasmine tea and that flavour shines through. If you decide to try it, I hope you like it! Leave a comment if you do and let me know what you think. 🙂
